The fall weather in New York City retreated this week, leaving the EduKids team a little sweatier on their morning commute to West 4th Street.
EduKids is wrapping up its third week with the NYU Steinhardt EdTech Accelerator powered by StartEd. The 13-week program includes 8 additional teams, and culminates with NY EdTech Week December 19–21. The 9 companies were selected from a field of 430 applicants representing all facets of the education technology landscape.
The partnership with NYU Steinhardt was a natural fit for StartEd, but more importantly for the EduKids team a partnership with NYU means close proximity to great food carts. The Dosa Man in nearby Washington Square Park was a big hit during the first week.
Currently the EduKids team is spending three hours a day in interviews with potential mentors. It sounds like a lot of time, but with five to six mentors each day the process provides no time for pleasantries.
Of the 150 mentors—each with their own impressive pedigrees—EduKids will end up with 3–5 who will provide insight and advice for everything from marketing to organizational development.
